Seahawks coach Pete Carroll acknowledged after the draft that, while he likes the team's top-end talent at linebacker, it is a position that needs more depth, and on Wednesday Seattle made a move to add to that depth, claiming Nate Evans a day after he was waived by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Evans, who went undrafted out of UCF last year, spent last season on the Jaguars' practice squad. As a senior, Evans led UCF with 112 tackles and had 13 tackles for loss, earning second-team All-AAC honors. He earned first-team honors as a junior when he had 99 tackles, 2.5 sacks and a 94-yard touchdown return of a fumble recovery.

Following the draft, the Seahawks had just four linebackers under contract for this season-Bobby Wagner, Jordyn Brooks, Cody Barton, Ben Burr-Kirven-but have since added Aaron Donkor, who was allocated to Seattle via the NFL International Player Pathway Program, as well as Evans. The Seahawks likely will also add to the position via undrafted free agent signings when those become official.
